We wanted to let you know about an upcoming mission opportunity. During the month of November our Awana kids will have the opportunity to directly reach a child with a Christmas gift through Samaritan’s Purse. Our club will participate in Operation Christmas Child, which provides gift-filled shoeboxes to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to children in need around the world.
You can participate in one of two ways:
- Fill a box. Pick up an empty shoebox next week and as a family, fill it with small toys, toiletries, school supplies, and a note to the child. Return the filled box with a pre-paid label to club on November 19. For more information, click How to Pack a Shoebox.
- Donate supplies to our “packing party.” Our Cubbies, Sparks, and T&T kids will be packing shoeboxes during club on November 19 but we need your help supplying the items and shipping costs. Please click on this link and select a few items that your family can donate: Packing Party SignUp. Please bring your items in by November 12.
Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child, has collected and delivered more than 146 million shoeboxes to children in more than 160 countries and territories. Many children who receive shoebox gifts will also enroll in Operation Christmas Child’s 12-lesson discipleship program, The Greatest Journey. This program teaches children about God’s amazing love and guides them through what it means to faithfully follow Jesus Christ. Since 2010, more than 11 million children have participated in the program. Every child who graduates is given a New Testament in their own language.
Please help our Awana Club reach our goal of filling 75 boxes this year and bring “Good News. Great Joy” to a needy child.
